1. In the last week I’ve…

    - Finished applying to my 4 US graduate programs.

    - Applied for Degree Conferral

    - Looked for summer positions I can get in the field, and some are paid!

    - Browsed apartment costs in the 4 cities of residence.

    - Paid off all of my charges for graduate applications.

Life feels incredibly adult right now.

  2. STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Fit (my second feature in a row! :) )

We have seen a revival in fashion of looser knits, flowing skirts and clothing that cinches at just the right places instead of our wardrobes being ruled by the skin tight. I personally couldn’t be happier about this. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good-fitting skin hugging dress just as good as any girl, but there is something just so great about a big, chunky loose knit sweater or dress and the comfort in brings with of all of its stylish possibilities. I couldn’t help but notice this Fashionista walking through the halls with her friends. All-black with a splash of colour from her stylishly simplistic bag and ultra-trendy flatform oxfords? She was a dream made in minimalistic heaven and a gift to those who like to prove everyone wrong in their belief that outwear is just outerwear, not a part of your outfit itself.

  3. While the English weather has been cooling down for a good while, I’m still posted in the States until the middle of the month and its only just starting to taper off in Chicago! Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike find themselves in a constant state of give and take with the changing climate. We still want to sport our summer duds but its starting to get a little too chilly to do it. The lovely CollegeFashionista editor Amy Levin likes to call this season “Sall”, a term I think I’m going to have to borrow from her. The Fashionista for this week also did a great job of seamlessly blending her fall and summer wardrobes, but in a much brighter way! Personally I’m all for transitioning your brights and florals into fall wear. It’s a huge misconception, if you ask me, that fall and winter should narrow your colour options down to neutrals and darks. Rock an outfit that truly stands out and brings those bright reds and corals to the table.

  4. Normally I’m a more edgy-with-a-side-of-bohemian sort of girl, and maybe even a bit of hipster that I’d prefer not to admit to. But, I have a girly side too believe it or not! And when I saw this lovely lady hanging out with her friend, I just couldn’t help but to snap photos of both of them! Both outfits were too great in different ways for me to just write one article about the both; these Fashionistas definitely both earned a bit of spotlight! A well-executed flirty, girly outfit can be one of the most fun things to wear when you’re out to brunch with your best friends, and this stylish girl certainly got it right! I know whenever I try and dress girly I just miss the mark some how; either I overdo it just a little bit and look way too young or I just feel like my outfit is missing something!

  5. The hottest days of summer seem to have waned and we’ve gotten back to the breezy, easy days where layering doesn’t mean having a heat stroke. This means layering is back on! This look is a great one for late summer or early fall, when you aren’t ready to let go of the summer styles but you’ve got a nice breeze on your skin and want to have some fun with layers and light jackets. I have to admit, not only do I love layering, but I have an obsession with fun layering with maxi dresses! I’ve tried a lot of more daring things like crop tops and lace blouses, but you can never go wrong with keeping to the more simple things.
